[AusNOG] Transferring a domain - is this over the top

It is a .com.au

We initially went to TPP as we had the Auth key, but there is basic unused service on it so there internal systems won’t allow a transfer.
So we went to the IT company that bought the business that had managed the domain, thinking it would be a simpler process. – How wrong were we 😊

Since our request, the registrant email address has been changed to the IT company.

If you're asking *them* to do a transfer outbound (how does that even work?), I don't see why you'd have a problem paying them for the time they'll take to do it?.   An outbound transfer would normally be initiated by the receiving registrar, and has basically NOTHING to do with the losing registrar?

Now, if it's a registrar/reseller who has changed the registrant contact address to be something other than the client's authorised address, then it's time for the client to get in touch with them and demand it be changed back.  Otherwise, the client needs to contact TPP in writing and ask them to move it out of the reseller's account, and into a the clients name with TPP directly.  (and lodge a complaint with AuDA, as this is against the rules..)
