[AusNOG] Charter Change ?

It's lovely to see this group has exactly the same problems as every
other NOG type list i've been involved with over the years. :-)
The whole point of the value of this (and other NOG) list(s) is:
- That it is technically focused
- That the audience are technically focused
- That it gives you the means to ask for help/comment/critique when you
aren't sure where else necessarily to turn, or
- That it gives you access to a large audience with a variety of views,
and we all get to learn a bit along the way.
If you set up another list for the technical focus, the critical mass
will leave this list and you'll just move the problem.
I think it's more appropriate for the subscribers of this list to accept
that the technical focus will wander about a bit, and to be tolerant /
use filters as you wish - and for the moderators to step in from time to
time, when things get excessive or OTT.
I didn't have a problem with the VyOS questions because I didn't read
most of that thread. No big deal. :-)
It's also appropriate for people to remember that the list should be
dealt with professionally; that dirty laundry isn't appropriately aired
here; and that this is not your ISP helpdesk. If you have a problem with
your ISP, you talk to them. Not everyone else.
But that said there will be 'network operators' of all sizes and scales;
I first joined NOG lists whilst still working as a helpdesk'r and learnt
a lot from reading the NOG, my advice to newbies or those who don't
operate networks of any substance, is that they should probably be
reading more, and posting less, and should be gauging the value of any
post they do make against what the majority of readers are likely to get
from it. There are other forums for more generic questions...
