[AusNOG] Urgent: Telstra NOC

Hi Jason & All,
Agree wholeheartedly, so many people help out on here in good faith and operate in an informal capacity to bridge a gap that for whatever reason allows issues to slip through the cracks without obvious or well defined points of escalation.
I am thankful for those that stick there necks out to help out others who are stuck, they should feel they can stick their necks out without somebody wanting to swing a sword and take off their head.
AusNOG is after all, if I may quote the charter a “mailing list has been established to provide a forum for
the exchange of technical information, the discussion of specific implementation issues that require cooperation among internet
infrastructure related service providers (eg ISP/ASP/DC etc), the discussion of technically focused operational issues, and the discussion
of technical issues relating to provision of internet services and the various infrastructure related services in the telecommunications
industry.”
Peers helping peers not demanding explanations from corporate entities from those that have tried to help and do the right thing.
Thank you Russell and all the others that try to make the world an easier place in an often thankless world.
And my apologies to Dave Hughes for taking this a little off topic 😊
Kind Regards,
Jim.

This is precisely why helpful people stop helping.
I see this list as a gentle[man|woman]'s agreement that support structures "kinda suck" and are not always great at getting a contact fast, _By no means do I see it as my personal ticket queue with those who do take time to respond_.
Russell divulging any more than he did I would imagine could land him in hot water, especially if that's not the official messaging Telstra wishes to release at that time. Anything further, then you should be relying on the official channels. Russell supplements Telstra's official channels, he does not supplant them. I think that goes for anyone else who helps on the list.
Let's always try to protect those who "aggressively" do the right thing for companies that sometimes outwardly may appear like they don't care.
As always Russell, great work.
Regards,
Jason.

This had major effects on the global Internet routing system, and a lot of networks have applied some level of traffic engineering against AS1222 originated routes. I don’t think it unreasonable that those network operators would like some level of transparency as opposed to blind trust that it’s resolved adequately to a level where pre-impact trust can be inferred against AS1221 again.
This wasn’t just a little hiccup...
