[AusNOG] Strange ADSL problem - troubleshooting / diagnosis advice wanted

There is an upside to this one (Don't know about Daniel's case).
Most of this discussion is of a technical nature and maybe helpful to 
Operators generally.

Besides it's a heck of a lot better than the p_ss and moan session we 
had earlier in the week about Conroy / Turnbull etc and related 
conspiracy theories!
