I'm interested in why VDSL/VDSL2 hasn't become more widespread already,
regardless of the NBN. I thought the lack of it was to do with ACIF and
regulations around interference on PSTN services, but as there are small
pockets of VDSL already (TransACT, for example and now the NBN trial),
perhaps that is not (or is no longer) the case.
Is the lack of VDSL deployment to date due to a technology problem, a
regulation problem or an economic constraint?
Surely the ISPs installing DSLAM gear into exchanges didn't lock
themselves into buying gear that cannot or could not be upgraded beyond
ADSL2+ speeds?
