[AusNOG] APNIC WHOIS

of note is a policy proposal coming through (Nov 2010 implementation) is Prop-079:

http://www.apnic.net/policy/proposals/prop-079

"This is a proposal to introduce a mandatory abuse contact field for objects in the APNIC Whois Database to provide a more efficient way for abuse reports to reach the correct network contact."

While that in itself doesn't address the staleness of registry data, prop-084 which should be discussed at APNIC30 on the Gold Coast might.. maybe...:

"This is a proposal for APNIC to regularly contact all APNIC current account holders with resources in the APNIC Whois Database to ask them to actively check that all their details in whois are up to date."

That said, this APNIC meeting will be pretty light. Only one policy proposal to discuss in the policy SIG - I guess a lot of delegates will get some serious beach/golf/casino time. ;-)

Cheers
Terry
