I'll use this line as my excuse to solicit feedback (not directing my point
at Martin in particular).
Back in 2006 one of my students and I sketched out a rough estimate of how
much bandwidth would be 'enough' to a home. We waved our arms wildly on things
like how much a human's eyes and ears could consume, the possible impact of
compression techniques, etc.
Now, I recognise the inherent danger of an academic dipping their toes into
reality - I end up with shortened toes, and reality ends up being perplexed ;)
But I'd be interested in people's thoughts about our paper from an ops perspective
(and with a few extra years of hindsight).
