[AusNOG Classifieds] v4Now Announcement: Update on Current Available Ranges - July 2014

I started reading this thread in my browser based mail and was wondering why I hadn't seen the OP and then why I wasn't seeing any of the other posts from Skeeve, yet I was reading the responses to them from others. At first I thought that the replies from Skeeve might have been to the person directly and then that person had replied to the list. Then as I continued to read the replies I realised this was not the case and that everyone was replying to "all". Then I went and looked in the 'spam' folder and all of the emails from Skeeve for this thread were sitting there.

Yahoo email it seems is not without a sense of irony...

You profit from the sale though and charge a fee for it, don’t you? I am a supporter of what you’re trying to do but it’s no different to anyone else trying to sell a commercial product for financial benefit.

Ok, but I do NOT agree.. we are NOT a vendor, as we do not own the address space.  The space is owned by the end-user, and we're simply representing it.. like a real-estate agent. Even any transaction is between the seller and buyer.

So in my opinion (and others), we're not the vendor at all....   This just really seems like people being a pain in the ass for the sake of it.  This list is for the benefit of the community, and helping the community is what we're doing (whether we benefit or not).

I request that you clarify the charter, either to specifically include people brokering, but not selling, or to exclude it... and if you exclude it, you should run a poll on the list to see how the community feels about it, not just those who whinge.

Actually Skeeve, as previously discussed, in our opinion you are a vendor.  You are a commercial entity that generates revenue from the sale of the resources your are advertising.  As such your emails relating to the sale of other peoples address space are not within the charter of either the AusNOG list or the AusNOG Classifieds list.

Anybody on the list that wishes to sell THEIR OWN address space can do so quite happily within the charter of the Classifieds list.

Skeeve, again, please refrain from sending emails of this nature to the list.

Thanks

Relax Damian.  We're not a vendor, but a broker.  There is a difference.

We're just trying to connect buyers and sellers with what they need... in the network operator space.  Why would you be upset about that?  We don't post very often and have limited to a maximum of once per month.

From the list charter for this mailing list:

I take this email as a vendor advertising, so I think this is a violation of the charter.
