I still remember standing in our shinny new Sydney data center, in
front of a *row* of incredibly expensive AS5400s, trying to find out
who spec'd enough dial ports to support the entire online population
of Sydney at the time and if they really though that was a) achievable
and b) required from day one !

The same week finding out someone approved a software purchase (>$2m)
to monitor, graph and historically report on *every* element in the
network which not only included every individual (mostly idle) one of
those dial ports above, but inexplicably the ISDN channel behind it.

The devil is entirely in the detail, the more money you throw at the
solution and the less time you allow for, the bigger the bang will be.

I'm totally on the fence if this is a good idea, as Bev points out,
I'd really like to see some numbers, market analysis, budgets and how
many senior positions will be given to Telstra execs before I call it
either way.
