[AusNOG] Telstra outage?

Yeah but the absolute rollover time is largely irrelevant.
Consider 2 digit date systems, if I was manufactured in 2025, I would assume a clock year of 25 to 99 is 2025-2099, and 00 to 24 is 2100 to 2124, as it's impossible for it to be before the manufacturing/firmware date.
Same with the week count here. If the firmware on the clock was from 2016 or before, it would assume the current week number is in 2016 and not 2026.

Wasn't the rollover 2019 that puts it 2038

The discussion I was having today with some colleagues was around the week rollover of GPS – 1024 weeks = 19.6 years – exactly where the time went back to (2006).
Unpatched NTP master perhaps?
Will be interesting to see the RCA if one is ever published.

You know what NTP can rely on?
DNS.

To paraphrase an oft-repeated meme
It's not NTP
There's no way it's NTP
It was NTP
Bets on this just being a speculator to take the heat off until they
find out what really went wrong?
