[AusNOG] Zoom Broadband another Epic broadband in the making

Understood Noel,

Agree with you there, to become a NBN reseller there are surely some hoops (I’m not privy to them).

In defense of Chad I’m pretty sure he’s just pointing out the discrepancy that has occurred through domain registration which anyone can do which is unfortunately part of the domain registration system we have.

Anyone can claim they are a business and put in an ABN and claim to be registering the domain as a verified representative of said ABN. There is no verification process outside of ABN active checks and potentially name checks here unless things have changed since I helped get an AuDA registrar up and running in a previous role.

If customer says they are X, ABN register checks out, domain registered.

Pointing out the discrepancy is still valuable information for anyone trying to analyze what has gone on here though.

without looking into it, perhaps thats who the rego was provided by

why play the unreliable whois guessing game when you can use a proven source

because that source clearly shows them being a registered entity which is what some people here are suggesting they are not, or at least, thats the perception.

Based on a simple domain whois you're getting the following back:

Registrant: CIMA GROUP PTY LTD

Registrant ID: ABN 72636966302
