[AusNOG] Approx downtime when moving fromTelstra to another internet provider ? for email , route etc

Hello All,

We are moving from Telstra to another internet provider.
We will cut over at midnight next week ie remove static route in Telstra Cloud , inject new BGP route  etc  and was told around  2 hours downtime before new Internet service kick in.
Just want to know the mechanic of how it works -how long normally take for the new route advertised and redirect to the new internet provider ?
Any insight are much appreciated.
