Both are correct. The DNS protocol is a simple distributed name/value
database.

How you populate the values is your business, but anything beyond a simple
name/value match is up to you, as it's not provided by the protocol. Add to
which GLBs that CNAME everything, which is arguably an infraction of the
standards.
