Hey there ppl. I hope this is not out of place on this list - if so please feel free to flame me and delete and I will apologise in advance now.
Wearing my Internet Society of Australia hat on, just to let you know that we have started an ISP Special Interest Group.
Whilst its activities are not restricted to this, our first focus will be on how we go about technically implementing the processes to collect and retain metadata. We have a 2 yr implementation period. It might well take longer than this. We are especially sensitive to the fact that smaller ISPs will need to have a say in the process and as the ISP-SIG gets going, we will contact the AGD's Communications Access Coordinator with a view to providing an access and liaison point (and a voice) for the ISPs who come on board. We will be talking to some potential sponsors to assist us in any specific activities that arise out of the SIG.
In order to maximise face to face contact and meetings as they are needed, we are appointing conveners in each of the States. Skeeve Stevens (Skeeve at theispguy.com<mailto:Skeeve at theispguy.com>) is the convener in NSW and I am currently convening for Vic (if anyone has a burning desire to knock me off and convene in Vic they would be very welcome). We would also like conveners for QLD, SA, WA and possibly NT. If anyone is interested please contact me directly. Terms of reference will be put up on our website next week. .
There may be some cross-fertilisation with our Security SIG too at some stage down the track, as they are headed down the "Encrypt Everything" path.

If you are interested, please let Skeeve of me know. My contact details below.
Cheers
George
