Hi all,
I'm wondering what devices people are seeing on the market in Australia
that are capable of supporting Netflix, Stan, Presto - or understand what
platforms the unreleased ones may support.
I've used Netflix at home for a long time on my Roku3 that I got from the
US and it works fine.... but I don't think it is for sale here yet.... same
with many of the options out there.
So... with Netflix and Stan coming in a couple of months - even just as IT
geeks that friends ask - what are we going to tell them to buy?
Thoughts: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Netflix_compatible_devices)
- Chromecast + Smartphone App.... YaD (Yet another Device).... but it
should work ok I assume?
- Game Consoles - Expensive if you don't already have one
- Internet Connected TV's - Expensive if you don't already have one
- Internet Connected BluRay Players - not exactly smooth in my experience.
- AppleTV apparently supports Netflix
Stand says they will support mobile devices, ChromeCast and AirPlay... but
they are sucky options in my opinion. With an Android set-top-box perhaps
the Android App might be a solution.... but what mainstream STB is Android
and allows apps to be installed?
Presto is much the same, except they say they will support Samsung Apps...
not sure what that means though.
I don't see much STB support out there being talked about... any experience?
