Does anyone know if this means that Vodafone might end up on a peering
fabric, or may have their own Akamai servers?

Media release
Stan puts the Vod in Vodafone
Vodafone enters mobile content partnership with Stan, builds on leading
content offers for customers
*23 February, 2015: *Vodafone and Stan today announced an exclusive mobile
partnership to give Vodafone customers access to thousands of hours of
local and international content, including first-run TV shows such as *Better
Call Saul*, blockbuster movies and popular kids programming.
The agreement between Vodafone and Stan builds on Vodafone’s leadership in
premium content, including partnerships with Spotify and Fairfax Media, to
bring customers the TV, movies, music and news content they really want.
Vodafone’s Chief Executive Officer Inaki Berroeta said Vodafone remains
committed to offering their customers the best experience.
“Vodafone is a leader in premium content, bringing our customers the
world’s best entertainment and news to enjoy on their smartphones and
tablets.
“Stan is a fantastic addition to Vodafone’s leading range of premium
content. The reason we’ve chosen to partner with Stan is simple: we believe
it offers Australian customers the best range of local and international TV
and movies,” said Mr Berroeta.
Mike Sneesby, Chief Executive Officer of Stan, said, “Vodafone has been an
innovator in bringing content to consumers through their mobile network.
Our partnership with Vodafone, who have over 5 million customers, is a key
part of our strategy to make Stan accessible to as many Australians as
possible.”
*Experiences that work for customers (not the other way around)*
Vodafone CEO Mr Berroeta said advances in network technology opens up a
world of new possibilities for mobile entertainment.
According to figures from the Australian Communications and Media Authority
(ACMA), almost one in every two Australians streamed video or audio content
in the six months to June 2014.
“We’re already seeing a significant increase in customers watching video
content on their mobile devices. With Stan they can get unlimited access to
the content they want, when and where they want.
“Our other content partnerships, such as Spotify and Fairfax offered on Red
plans, are really appealing to customers. Stan is a great complement to
these and a great fit for our brand. We’re confident our customers are
going to love using the service as part of their Vodafone plans,” said Mr
Berroeta.
Vodafone says it will announce full details of its Stan offer in the coming
weeks.
