[AusNOG] Contact at Optus on the list?

Hi Barry,

Yes, it is sad that Optus choose to do this... early on they were a leader
in Wholesale with XYZed, but they've not innovated or done anything
interesting in the space for a long time (wholesale 3G being the best
thing) and yes, the bar for spend they set is high, which has limited a lot
of smaller players selling their products directly.

This has its positives and negatives for them, but mostly negative for the
market. The big negative is that they aren't really all that relevant into
todays wholesale market, which you can expect from a carrier with a mostly
retail focus - although they suck at the SME space for broadband solutions.

At any time Optus could make themselves more relevant in the market, but I
don't think they are very motivated to do much about it... no idea why.
