Stuck to 5mbit
Won’t go any faster

When going direct. I can max out the connection. (Being doing tests from the Uber Global Mirror in Sydney)

What happens when you multi thread download, is it still stuck to 5Mbit?

And, what speed do you get (1 thread?) when going direct?

I've troubleshot many of these issues over the years, not with Symantecs product, but other similar ones.

Hey Guys

Does anyone here use the Symantec.Cloud Web URL Filtering?

I am trying to work out a speed issue and would like to ask another user that uses it in Australia to do a few speed tests while using the Symantec Proxy and without as well as a few trace roots to their proxy cluster IP’s

The background is when sending our web traffic from our TMG server to the Symantec proxy to apply the filtering rules and do virus and malware scanning on our Web traffic it seems to be capped at 5mbit.
We have a 50mbit Telstra Link and would like to rule out anything on Telstra’s side or Symantec’s Side. If you use someone other than Telstra/Optus EG a PIPE Connected ISP something like that it would be great as Symantec peer with PIPE. Someone in Perth would be great as week but elsewhere in Australia is fine as well.

I have logged a Support ticket with Symantec but they said “Using a remote proxy will always be slower” I said “Yes I realize that but with all the testing and results I showed you that there is cap somewhere as its 5mbit constant”. I don’t expect to get 50 or 100mbit through it but something faster than 5mbit. Lots of our users download 2GB or 3GB images and videos and manuals from suppliers and takes a while at 5mbit. (Less is there is lots of web traffic). I have taken the liberty to set our TMG server not to forward these URL’s through to Symantec but can’t keep doing that.

If anyone can help please feel free to reply off list. And any helpful reply’s that could benefit everyone on list (EG. No whinging and bitching)

Thanks Heaps

Kind Regards
