[AusNOG] Commsday: Slingshot to open access to Netflix in New Zealand

An announcement that Maxnet had been purchased by Vocus is what happened. At the same time as that, the new service disappeared.

Slingshot have had Global Mode available for a year or so. Global Mode was ostensibly to allow ‘overseas guests’ to get access to everything they’d have at home whilst abroad. Everyone that I know using it has reported that it works brilliantly - the only change required is setting one’s Apple TV to the U.S. iTunes Store. Those using Slingshot Global Mode already probably wish Slingshot had left things as they were, rather than drawing undue attention to it.
