Hmm, that sounds like you haven't tuned window sizes in the kernel on both
ends (but in particular on the sending system) to speed it up? The default
on a lot of recent distro's seems to be pretty horrendous, and seems to be
set out of the box to what ends up being around 9k window size. (so every
9kbyte transferred requires waiting on an ack - so 15msec per 9kbytes gives
you around 600kbytes/sec. Which it sounds might be about what you're
getting. If you can tune that up past the 60k mark or higher, then you'd
push it to 4mbytes/sec or more.
Or perhaps change to using NFS over UDP so you don't have the need for as
many ack's..?
