[AusNOG] NBN again

I was interested in Simon Hackett's blog/talk earlier in the year, where
he mentioned that they can still do interesting things on a shared
medium such as HFC, as long as they deploy more fiber to feed smaller
segments.

He acknowledged fiber would be best, then went on to point out that the
pollies aren't paying for fiber any more, which I think is a fair if
regrettable point.
I'd be happy enough for NBN to drop their service onto the co-ax into my
lounge room, if I had to share it with a limited number of houses for a
clear step up in performance, compared with the ADSL or Telstra HFC
that's available where I live. Now, lets just see it happen.
No rush either, tomorrow or next week would be soon enough.
