[AusNOG] Cisco routers on NBN 100/40Mbps connection

TPG have a habit of badly over subscribing, I can't speak for NBN connections but adsl wise I'm on an Exetel connection (Telstra dslam) and its great, I've never had an issue due to Exetel themselves (had a dslam fail once but Telstra fixed that)

Cheers,
Ayden

Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking at a 100/40Mbps NBN connection from a decent provider like iiNet/Internode.

I have been told to stay away from cheapie providers like Exetel or TPG as their networks apparently are crap as they have unlimited plans.

Is this correct?

J.

James,

This would be correct but I don't believe an 1841 is any more capable, possibly a 1941 or a 2900 series.

Hi Guys,

We are hearing reports that Cisco 881 routers are not suitable for NBN 100/40Mbps connections, and that we need to use the next model up - a Cisco 1841 instead.

Can anyone comment on this? As the Cisco 881 has 100Mbps internal ports, so I would have thought it would be ok.

Thanks
