Hi John,

Thanks for your email and to clarify and provide further indication, the underlying objective is to find out what software / companies you and others as industry members are using, so that I can use this as a guide as my business undertakes a review and planning in line with continuous improvement objectives to our internal business systems.

My offer for the vouchers is to thank respondents for time in providing their response, so far only a single valid response has been received. I'd also note there wasn't any suggestion of SPAM to someone (I believe I I recall Bevan but I may be wrong?) offering free tickets to the Grand Prix in exchange for some help not all that long ago! In respect to your other comments, I needed to provide a conditional offer, based upon setting an expectation that respondants would take the matter seriously and provide valid responses, I can't be providing vouchers if someone doesn't consider the request seriously. Formal address, this is quite allowed under the AUSNOG mailing list charter, I don't use any private email address, I'm sorry to say.

The beauty of this doc is that you don't know  for sure what the underlying objective is, operational improvement or lead generation.

Chris - if you made the conditional offering non conditional ie: all respondees get x then your offer would appear more credible.

Use of formal address ie: esteemed reeks a bit of spam also.
