NBN should have GIVEN the energy utility a port then they could have
mandated that they get an NTU in each and every house and we wouldn't
have this "premises passed" v's "premises connected" issue (or perhaps charged a trivial amount like $10 PA to the utility for each premises).
Energy Utility could put in place a small device attached to the NBN NTU that
uses Zigbee to talk to the smart meter (which is what I believe the
smart meters use at the moment ?). This way it doesn't matter where the
NTU is placed.
