[AusNOG] Q about time zones especially UTC

I've found it easier over the years to make sure that you only use 3 letters and a +/- time difference number, that seems to cover most time checking programs out there, and people tend to grasp that when it's written down more. Using AEST in the past caused all sorts of problems with other networks in the work in relation to spam/problem reporting.

Standards state AEST / AEDT are ok but other countries don't appear
to know what the standards are :o)

Anything else increases the probems, so here in WA I simply use "WST-8"

As for inacting with humans and time zones, I've simply given up and talk to them in there tz times.

It's a bit like <http://evil-comic.com/archive/20121121.html> were no one is going to stop saying "ATM Machines" and "PIN Numbers", you can talk about the correct way to do it but in the end you got to stick with what the majority is using/saying.

Cheers
