Bit of a storm in a teacup imo.
The net is always going to be managed by consensus between sovereign
nations.
I can't see a bit of competition for internet governance being a bad thing,
and possibly a bit of constructive dialogue between US bodies and the UN
will ultimately benefit users.
US is probably going to more pro free speech than the UN (per first
amendment). UN will probably draw a stronger line on net neutrality and
open access.
