Selling your customers a solution and promising it won't go down when it's a single path is suicide. Of course they want you to explain if you have undersold them something. Never promise anything you can't guarantee.

It's still possible that two, three, four providers will go down at the same time. Not many carriers tell you what path your traffic is heading over and if they do, it's easy for the techs to duplicate a service on the same physical path. Having more than 1 carefully chosen though will significantly help in a situation like this.
