Simon,
Some think US pricing is good... but after a review, I've just shutdown my
US servers and in the process of shutting down some AU ones and moving them
all to Germany.
I found this place called Hetzner.de which have the most amazing prices
I've ever seen.
Fully dedicated (non-Virtual) servers. I have 1 * EX4 and 1 * EX4S
The EX4S is:
Intel i2600-Quad Core
32GB of RAM
2 * 3TB Hard drives with RAID1
1 * IPv4 address (you can get more by paying)
1 * /64 IPv6
Connection: 100mb (can be upgraded to 1Gb for EUR39 which ups the included
data below to 15TB)
Data Included: 10TB (10,000 GB) - after exceeding that they reduce you to a
10MB pipe and you pay about AU$10 for each extra 1TB... This is for
OUTGOING traffic only - incoming not counted.
Backup: 100Gb off server included.
Oh, this is for EUR59 (AU$71 or NZ$91) per month.
That is one of the small servers. You can get an EX10 with
i7-3930K-Hexcore with 64GB of RAM - rest the same for EUR109 (AU$131 or
NZ$168)
If you wanted to setup a VMware server it can be done, but its a little
more effort.
Yes... I am sure most people will have the same response I did when I found
these guys. They are pretty awesome. Check out the url
http://www.hetzner.de/en/hosting/produktmatrix/rootserver-produktmatrix-ex
It isn't the best latency for dealing with Australia, but I think US is
fine. I think the speed is amazing.
Some traceroutes.
