While an engineer was re-routing traffic around Hurricane Electric inconsistent route advertisements to Vocus and other peers & transit suppliers ran afoul of network protection rules within the Vocus network. 

Vocus would have seen traffic that was entering their network destined for iiNet which was to egress via a peering interface, which normally would indicate something dodgy. (Transit theft over an IX.. not uncommon unfortunately)

A permanent solution has been devised to ensure Vocus always have "trusted" routes back to the iiNet network, even in case of issues with the circuit in question today. This will be rolled out soon to prevent recurrence.

Hi Gavin,

Clients report all fine, however are also asking how long these service
disruptions are anticipated to occur? 

I can understand HE.NET is experiencing problems internationally, why does
this blackhole traffic in Australia on these occasions?
