[AusNOG] Pacific Fibre dead?

Hey all,

I heard something the other day and I seemed to have missed the news about it.

Last August there was lots of news about the new Pacnet/Pacific Fibre from Syd-NZ-Samoa-LA.

But I heard at the Commsday event the other day from someone that Pacnet has quietly backed out of the project.

Is this true? Is that cable now dead?
