At this point in time id be happy with 1.2mb :/

I must clarify the adsl service i pay about $130 a month inc line rental,
I'm sure Telstra collect between 60/70$ per month for the use of there
DSLAM.

bruce

And TPG say Telstra say, "150kBps is within spec."

How is it legal then to sell a service purporting to be up to 8mbps?! Why
did Telscum even open up the DSLAMs then?

(And I pay $99, so I hear you.)

Hrm, farmer Joe wants to POP3 an email from grandson; surely he needs fibre
to his 100 acre property!

Hrm, IT professional like me in the "big smoke" needs a bucketload more
bandwidth, to do his job... nah, 1.2mbps is within spec.

Oh that's right -- voting against someone who's fit and wears budgie
smugglers is far more important!

I'm in the same boat as you Jason, stuck on a adsl1 8mb plan with horrid
backhaul issues with Telstra not fixing it yet collecting 60/70$ per month
for the service.

I'm not in support of NBN, i just would like to have decent internet, I'm
not sure anyone has the right plan for it yet.

I don't.

I'll continue now to be held to ransom by Telstra, paying for a 8mbps DSL1
service with anti-competitive, congested backhaul and getting the
performance of 1mbps (if I'm lucky).

Sure, regional may not even get anywhere near 1, but how is me not even
having a choice of provider and hence independent backhaul fair?

My personal bet is that most of regional won't even care (speaking from
experience as my father is regional).

I care.

Give it to the guys who have been sucking on the ISDN link for 10 years.
