I'm in the same boat as you Jason, stuck on a adsl1 8mb plan with horrid
backhaul issues with Telstra not fixing it yet collecting 60/70$ per month
for the service.
I'm not in support of NBN, i just would like to have decent internet, I'm
not sure anyone has the right plan for it yet.

I'll continue now to be held to ransom by Telstra, paying for a 8mbps DSL1
service with anti-competitive, congested backhaul and getting the
performance of 1mbps (if I'm lucky).
Sure, regional may not even get anywhere near 1, but how is me not even
having a choice of provider and hence independent backhaul fair?
My personal bet is that most of regional won't even care (speaking from
experience as my father is regional).
I care.
