[AusNOG] OSPF installing a higher cost route (6k / 7600)

Hi AusNOG,
Has anyone ever heard of this behaviour with Cisco 6k / 7600's:
" As a result of mis-configuration or LAN segment partitioning, LSDB of
OSPF
area contains more than one Net (Type-2) LSA describing same IP prefix/mask
pair, then OSPF will install into routing table route with worst (biggest)
metric for this prefix."
If you have a L2 partition OSPF will install into the route table a poorer
route to the destination network.
It caused us a routing loop, and I would never expected to see higher
metric route installed... argh.
