Subject: HMSP important information: Changes to Global Switch Rules & Regulations
Importance: High

Dear Customer

Harbour MSP (HMSP) has recently been notified about new changes and initiatives that Global Switch are implementing in order to maintain the operational integrity of their facility and to enhance the range of services to all customers.

We are in discussion with Global Switch on these changes and initiatives and trust they will not be as encompassing as they initially appear. However, while this process is underway, we want to let you know the general substance of these changes and their possible effect.

Please note that although we are challenging and discussing these changes with Global Switch in detail they are timetabled to take effect from Thursday 1 July 2010.

Induction
Global Switch has indicated that all staff/customers who have been inducted in to the facility in the past will need to undergo a re-induction process. This is to make everyone aware of the new procedures and rules. There will be a 3 month grace period during which there will be hourly induction sessions available. We expect further information on this and will pass the details onto you.

Access Requests
There is no change to access request procedures at this time. We will inform you if there are any further developments.

Permits To Work (PTW)
Global Switch has stipulated that 48 hours advance notice (instead of the previous 24 hours) will now be required for PTWs. For works commencing on Mondays or over the weekend PTW requests must be submitted by no later than 1130 hours Thursday. This will allow the facilities team the necessary time to assess the request and put in place necessary procedures (isolation of the fire systems for example). As another example a request submitted at 1600 hours Tuesday will not grant access prior to 1600 hours Thursday.

Deliveries
Global Switch has stipulated that they will require at least 48 hours advance notice (instead of the previous 24 hours) of the required delivery time and the actual date of delivery instead of a range of days.

Furthermore, unpacking of equipment will no longer be allowed in the data suites as cardboard, plastic and other packaging material is deemed a hazard in the data suites and can also interrupt the airflow in the data suites. Global Switch has asked that all unpacking be done in the loading dock and then equipment can be taken to the upper levels. As an alternative, HMSP will provide our Customer Lab located on level 2 free of charge as an unpacking area. Access to the customer lab can be arranged by contacting the HMSP Service Desk. Customers have the option of taking rubbish with them after unpacking or using HMSP's rubbish removal service for a fee per cubic metre.

Cross Connects
Global Switch has indicated that they will become the sole supplier of cabling between data suites.

Customers are asked to notify HMSP of any cabling requests and we will then organise quotes through to Global Switch.

Please note however that independent contractors can still be used for cabling within the data suites so HMSP will continue to arrange the best possible prices through suitable suppliers for these works.

Global Switch is also proposing changes to the way cross connects are installed and maintained. They currently intend to introduce additional charges for all new and existing cross connects however HMSP is currently in negotiations about this and will provide more information as it comes to light.

Regards
HARBOUR MSP PTY LTD a frontline company
