Amazing that he continues to focus on the 87% number. With the
exception of GetUp! (who've not exactly been leading the charge),
who's actually hyping that claim? Why does he (and he alone) keep
tossing it out there?

(lets remember its source, too: Enex Testlab closed lab tests
commissioned by his own Department and released in mid-2008)

The "1/70th of the blink of an eye," claim, on the other hand, appears
entirely made-up by Conroy. It doesn't appear in any of the testing
reports. Indeed, the testing reports are pretty comprehensive
demolitions of the feasibility of what he wants to do, which is
probably why he leaves it up to people like me to quote from them,
and he just makes shit up instead.

Perhaps if he really wants to talk about speed he can tell us about
the impact his censorware policy will have on the NBN. Except he can't,
because none of the testing was performed faster than 8 megabits
per second. It's like testing a car in a shopping centre carpark
at 8km/h and declaring it safe for use in the vicinity of pedestrians,
even though you fully intend to drive it at 100km/h. What was the
point of any of the testing he's done?

"The consultations are still ongoing." Fascinating. With whom?
Has anyone on this list been consulted at? I guess we'll have to
wait until the next leak from his department to find out.

"We never claimed this was a silver bullet. Lots of people allege
we made that claim but it's simply not true." Umm -- Name three.
In fact, name one. One single person who thinks the Government has
ever made the claim that it'd be a panacea. The clock's ticking.

It isn't a silver bullet. It's roughly the same shape, but it's
larger, made out of plastic, with a taper and a flared base for
your comfort and convenience. Just the thing to stop scamspams
from entering through your portal. :)
