[AusNOG] [off-topic] Samsung Galaxy S

Enough Already!

I am going to say it, because clearly the sensible ones have all managed to "have annual leave" at this time and are not checking their emails.

If you KNEW well enough that the topic you wanted to open for discussion was OFF TOPIC enough that you needed to say it in the subject, they CLEARLY you knew that THIS is NOT the appropriate forum for discussing said TOPIC.

At what point does this mailing list become 99% "OFF TOPIC - but my cat is pregnant and I dunno what to do - no seriously my cat has a WIFI CHIP so it's OPERATIONAL" and 1% *anything* to do with networking.

Sure "smartphones have network access" these days, but the VAST and OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of this recent thread have NOT been ANYTHING to do with Australian Network Operations. (sorry guys, I'll suggest that mobile networks is some other mailing list).

Think before you click, or people will realise that your phone is smarter than you are.

Very reversible; installation is a ridiculously simple procedure of putting a zip file onto the phone, and rebooting it holding down a few buttons and selecting an option. You do exactly the same thing to reverse it.

Is the latest update the absolute latest firmware from the manufacturer, or is it Virgin's latest firmware for the phone? Don't underestimate carriers abilities to completely fsck up phones via stupid customisations on outdated firmware :-/

Tried flashing a generic firmware? (That said, I'm kind of with the previous comments that this kind of stuffing around shouldn't be necessary).

I held off buying an Android phone for ages because I thought this, but this isn't true; I sync everything happily with my Exchange server, and I'm fairly sure the local calendar works without a Gmail account. I have one attached to the phone, but it is used for very little.
