Hi Kai,
Here are some answers for you based on BB Torch.
- can I use standard USB cable and use the phone as a portable hard drive?
A: Yes.
- do I need specific application to interact with the phone, ie iTunes style?
A: Not mandatory, but Blackberry desktop software provides good integration for file access.
- do both phones play all multimedia types, ie not restricted to QuickTime etc?
A: Not sure every phone will play every media type, but I have not run into anything it cannot play.
- is Flash supported in the browser?
A: Basic.
- do both phones have a real keypad, or electronic touchscreen only?
A: Torch has real keyboard + touchscreen keyboard.
- anything you've useful you've noted that's not on the web or in any of the marketing hype because most consumers probably don't need it because
all they want to do is get on Facebook or YouTube?
A: Well it works on facebook and I can stream YouTube videos, but the best way to find out is to go and play with one.
The only disappointing thing to me is that there are not as many apps as some other handsets, however if you are wanting to spend all day downloading apps that you will use 0.00001% of the time then BB is not for you. My daughter has an iTunes store app where she can design women's shoes - that's not available on BB Store.
