[AusNOG] Pipe/Equinix Peering Costs

Hi Brad,

This is internal routing policy between TPG & PIPE and is the norm. I
have recently achieved the goal of getting my prefixes removed from
PIPE/TPG transit after an (ex) wholesale IP provider of ours purchased
IP transit and used old prefix lists.

I used email addresses : support at pipenetworks.com,
core-neteng-support at tpg.com.au, ibog at tpg.com.au &
the-ex-wholesalers-noc at theirnoc.com

If you don't have PIPE NSW it will route via Equinix Exchange, but if
you have PIPE NSW they will local pref PIPE-IX over EE.

I understand their reasons for doing what they are doing, but I've seen
them advertise our prefixes via their US transit with a path like:
TPG>AAPT>OPTUS>VOCUS>^$. Effectively transiting transit over transit.

It would be more cost effective for them, if they're going to transit
prefixes (not knowingly so) to do it over the IX. At least they wouldn't
be paying for it twice ;)
