Of course, then the question arises - *which* global IPv6 address to
display. A router usually has lots of addresses, often has multiple IPv6
addresses on its interfaces, and can even quite legitimately have
multiple loopback addresses.

Do you want the displayed address to identify the remote router in a
general sense, or the particular remote endpoint? The rabbit hole looks
deepish to me...
