Any licensed carrier can put services into a building as long as they have a customer there, just because OptiComm are there doesn't mean NBN can't be as well, or TPG, or Telstra, or anybody really, I would expect to see more of this happening as NBN pushes others out with their new regulatory pain for smaller providers.

Subject: [AusNOG] NBN doing site surveys in OptiComm lit up areas
Hi Guys,
Just had an NBN guy visit our commercial building asking to see the building ground floor comms cupboard to confirm how the building is connected and whether the NBN can provide services to the building.
He did have a UCG T-Shirt on, he did have some pass cards that had the NBN logo on it.
He didn't have any official paperwork.
I sent him away until he can provide the paperwork to the building committee.
Apparently he was just coming past to do a precheck before the paperwork is done, he also mentioned he was a supervisor.
Seemed a little sus.
I quizzed him about why they would be looking to add this site to the NBN when it is already serviced by OptiComm, as there is no real benefit for the tenants. He gave no real reason.
He said they just needed to see if there were services here, I told him he could have saved himself a trip and looked at the OptiComm website.
Wanted to know if anyone else has experienced these visits.
Are they legit?
Regards,
