[AusNOG] vyos | more than 2 member interface in a bonded interface

Hi Mark,

I have been using Vyatta / vRouter / VyOS for years … and never had such a limitation in the platform.
I have run bonded nics up to 4 on all 3 variants in the past, without any issues on HP or Dell Servers.

Definitely check out IRC as suggested for further support.

Thanks
Shaun

Subject: [AusNOG] vyos | more than 2 member interface in a bonded interface

Hi Ausnog,

Forgive me if this query is inappropriate.

I am trying to add 4 gigabit ports in a bonded interface but it seems unstable if there are more than 2 enabled member interfaces in the group.

set interfaces bonding bond1 address 'x.x.x.x/24'
set interfaces bonding bond1 hash-policy 'layer2'
set interfaces bonding bond1 mode '802.3ad'
set interfaces ethernet eth6 bond-group 'bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth6 description 'member of bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth7 bond-group 'bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth7 description 'member of bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth10 bond-group 'bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth10 description 'member of bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth11 bond-group 'bond1'
set interfaces ethernet eth11 description 'member of bond1'

The vyos machine is connected to a juniper ex4200 virtual chassis (2 members)

set interfaces ge-0/0/40 ether-options 802.3ad ae4
set interfaces ge-0/0/41 ether-options 802.3ad ae4
set interfaces ge-1/0/40 ether-options 802.3ad ae4
set interfaces ge-1/0/41 ether-options 802.3ad ae4
set interfaces ae4 aggregated-ether-options minimum-links 1
set interfaces ae4 aggregated-ether-options lacp active

The same settings on the Juniper EX4200 doesn't have any issue on a non-vyos device. Is this a limitation on the vyos?

Thank you.
