There is significantly constrained capacity out of Singapore to Hong Kong due to faults on APCN-2, AAG and TGN-IA cable systems, most of the major carriers are struggling. As a result packets are going the long way around via Sydney.

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing higher than normal latency to HKG over original Amcom prefixes?. All our customers on Amcom prefixes in SA are having a 242ms trip to 31.13.95.14, whereas some of our newly advertised blocks and Vocus address ranges are solid 131ms. We have logged a case with Vocus – awaiting a response but we noticed it so I wonder who else has? From the traces and looking glasses the packets are looping on their return trip once they land in SYD. We are having issues with Facebook videos not loading correctly (I know Facebook – but so many people use it so it is very obvious) and it only happens on blocks that are taking the longer path.

Sam
