I used to use Citrix years ago to get around this issue, I’ll bet they still have a good solution for this. Citrix was always very good for poor latency situations where an app or two needed to be accessed at a remote host site.

Depending where the latency sensitivity is, perhaps a remote desktop-style solution might be a go-er?
Obviously you'll have UI-latency, but the application itself would be running locally to datasources/etc.
