[AusNOG] Chasing up the story behind an OUI assigned to RMIT and others

Hi,

Somebody recently contacted me regarding trying to find out the story
behind an IEEE OUI.

The OUI is 08-00-30. Somebody from CERN is trying to find out what the
story with it is, as according to the IEEE's database, it has been
assigned to 3 different organisations:

* CERN
* NETWORK RESEARCH CORPORATION
* RMIT

Is there anybody here from RMIT or who might know somebody from RMIT
who may know the story behind this OUI assignment, likely to have
occurred during the 80s or 90s?

Off-list preferred.

(It's interesting to find out that not only have MAC addresses been
duplicated, an OUI has been too.)
