Nice write up thanks for sharing James - some pretty cool micrograph pics.
And great advice about keeping fibre out from underneath rolling office
chairs.

I do disagree with some points though:

I'm not sold on the idea of cleaning transceivers or female receptacles as
a matter of practice though, if a transceiver is suspect surely you'd just
swap it out... right? The recommendations to use cotton swabs seems a bit
off - lint and threads can't be good.

Me? I'll just be sure to keep things clean and cap unused transceivers and
connectors - test runs for light loss

After all, the FOA has certified over *9000* techs and have nice and
