[AusNOG] Telstra DOT modem options

I'm not happy with our Telstra Netgear v7610 -
 * regular DSL dropouts
 * unable to change the hostname (seriously!)
 * no snmp management
 * unconventional shape wastes a lot of space in the rack

Has anybody tried replacing it with something more enterprise-friendly
(like a Cisco 887VA)

Is there any reason why that shouldn't work?
