OT: I've also heard (and used) the phrase "wood duck" to mean the price that someone would pay on something without haggling for it at all - usually meaning the buyer paid a lot more than they could/should have.

I've heard truckies call highway patrol many things - none of them as polite as wood duck (though many of the words involved do rhyme with duck) :)

OT: Woodduck is also a term used by Australian truckies to describe highway police who hide in the trees beside highways with a radar gun. When they detect a speedster, they fly out like a startled wood duck....

"Nuff nuffs". That's a new one on me. Nice.
I have a friend who refers to the terminally ineducable as "woodducks", which seems inadequate when written down, but say it out loud with a bit of vinegar and it's surprisingly satisfying.
