Have either PPC1 or Basslink had major faults like this before? I can’t remember hearing about any.
Paul.

Oh wow. I'm in SFO atm. Extraordinary bad luck. Il de Ray is getting frames welded onto it for the repair of Basslink. Once it gets going that is going to take a while. That is the month. So the only other option is to grab a vessel of opportunity which is out of Taiwan. And then it will have to get the spares off the Il de Ray meaning it will probably have to steam to Geelong to get the spares. Unbelievable bad luck.
Without any knowledge from what the outage (pump or shunt) and what is the remedy it is hard to understand. But the chances of 2 faults concurrently is so low it's not funny. The Il de Ray has never done a repair in anger and two concurrently is just unheard off. And for one to be an electrical repair is equally amazing (long time to repair).
Just really, really bad luck.
