AUSNOG is a place to resolve operational issues, yes.
However it's also got a list charter (http://www.ausnog.net/mailing_list/charter) with a pair of great examples on how to, and how not to, post.

Not at all - a stick-in-the-mud would have suggested that people email abuse@ in the first instance, or call the provider directly in the second instance, before lobbing an email to AUSNOG.
