I (possibly like Nathan) am hoping that Vocus great service isn’t dragged down by M2s poor level of service.

Nathan,
Elaborate? I'm keen to understand others views on this deal.
I personally think Vocus have their work cut out for them merging all these networks together... that said, the engineers of Vocus are sh!t hot and if any team is going to do it and do it quickly, then Vocus will... but the network vendors both use are quite different, so it will be interesting to see what happens over time... there will be a rationalisation of suppliers.
I'm most keen to see Vocus getting a hold of M2's capacity into all NBN PoI's and how they present that to the wholesale market.... could be good for a lot of us.
That said... if I was Vocus, I would be going after the corporate space more heavily... much more cream... but easy to play both sides of that coin... especially as James will be heading up that side of it afaik.

Yes, it happened. Vocus buys M2.
In a script for script deal... the Vocus name survived the merger - M2 name disappeared.
The new CEO of Vocus will be Geoff Horth
James Spenceley remains as an Executive Director, but active daily in the business doing what he does best, running the telco side.
Notes:
- Combined Revenue of $1.8bn
- Market Cap $3bn
- Both boards support merger
- David Spence to chair combined group
- 4000 combined staff
- ASX Announcements - http://www.asx.com.au/asx/research/company.do#!/VOC
So, this is battle of the titans and likely to upset Teoh who would eventually come after M2... or may try to hit the combined group, but he is busy off trying to buy Vodafone at the moment.
Great to see James still involved and doing what he does best without the headache of managing that many staff...
Exciting days.
